The ylang-ylang tree is a tropical tree native to India. It is prized for it's fragrant, pink, mauve and yellow flowers. It is from these aromatic flowers that ylang-ylang oil is distilled. Ylang-ylang oil can be used to create a calming atmosphere and blends really well with citrus oils as they help to tone down the overwhelming sweetness of the ylang-ylang oil.
Ylang-ylang is one of the most affordable of all the floral oils and is often used as a substitute for expensive jasmine oil. It is a very useful fragrance in perfumes, colognes, skin care products, cosmetics and soaps.
When used in aromatherapy, ylang-ylang oil is prized for it's tranquilizing effects.
