Lemongrass is a perennial plant that grows in clumps and reaches a height of approximately 1.5 metres. The fleshy white base of the stems is popular in Asian cookery. The leaves are virtually inedible however, it is from these leaves that the lemongrass oil is distilled. It has a strong but fresh lemony fragrance.
